This past week I was able to check out the Gold and Silver Key award winners from the Boston Globe Scholastic Art competition. I was absolutely blown away with how incredible the artwork was! Astonishing really is not strong enough of a word to describe what I saw. Many of the pieces looked like they came from professional artists, yet they were done by Massachusetts students in grades 7-12. It was truly inspiring to see the level of creativity and craftsmanship in these young artists.
If you have the chance, you should go check out the show before it ends this Sunday! It is FREE and located at the State Transportation Building, at 10 Park Plaza on the 2nd floor, in Boston. Their hours are Monday- Friday from 9am – 5pm and Sunday from 9am – 6pm.
I’m posting some photos below in case you don’t have the chance to see it in person. Coolidge was fortunate to have three 7th grade students represented at the show this year. Their work is represented three of the photos! Once is a dress (blue top and patterned bottom), another is a sculpture of a tree and person swinging from it and the last is a collaged piece of eyes that form a person’s profile.
